STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (April 11) – The Waynesburg University men's tennis team was defeated 7-0 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match at Franciscan on Friday afternoon.
The Barons (8-6, 5-2 PAC) won all three doubles flights to take the match's opening point. Tyler Gordan (Strongsville, Ohio / OHDELA) and
Thomas Torcaso (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Chartiers Valley) had closest match in a 6-3 setback at No. 3 doubles. The Yellow Jackets (2-6, 1-4 PAC) won multiple games in five of six singles flights but Franciscan prevailed in each singles matchup.
Ethan Clawson (Washington, Pa. / Trinity) battled at No. 1 singles, ultimately falling 7-5, 6-1.
Torcaso won six games before bowing out 6-2, 6-4 at sixth singles. Gordon also made things interesting in the second set of a 6-1, 6-4 loss at fifth singles.
Sam Norris (Natrona Heights, Pa. / Highlands) won three games in the first set in a defeat at No. 2 singles.
Waynesburg hosts Westminster tomorrow at Bechtle Family Tennis Facility at noon.
