WAYNESBURG, Pa. (June 3) – Two Waynesburg University baseball student-athletes were tabbed as Academic All-District selections by the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.
Senior second baseman
Dalton Mount (Sykesville, Md. / Century) and sophomore corner infielder
Trent Giraffa (Hanover, Pa. / Delone Catholic) were honored for their performance on the field and in the classroom. Mount graduated as a sports management major with a 3.61 cumulative grade-point average and receives Academic All-District laurels for the third time in his career. Giraffa, an accounting major with a 3.89 GPA, was honored for the first time.
Mount batted .276 and led the team with 12 stolen bases in 2025. He ranked second on the team with nine doubles and 44 total bases and third on the roster in hits, runs (19) and RBI (21). Mount concluded his Yellow Jacket career second all-time with 35 stolen bases.
Giraffa hit .305 and tied for the team lead in hits and RBI (22). He ranked second on the roster in runs scored (20), tied for second in total bases (44) and walks (12), and finished third in doubles (8). Giraffa recorded at least one hit in 25 games and notched 10 multi-hit performances.
College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District program honors the nation's top student-athletes for their combined success in athletics and academics. To qualify, nominees must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
