Cresson, Pa. (August 29) - The women's soccer team scored three times in the opening 30 minutes as the Yellow Jackets moved to 2-0 on the season with a 4-0 victory at Mount Aloysius on Saturday evening.
Reagan Mittendorf (Bluffton, Ohio / Bluffton) scored two goals on the win, with
Julz Mohrbacher (Freedom, Pa. / Freedom) and
Miracle Hershey (Lebanon County, Pa. / New Covenant Christian) contributing to the scoring.
The first goal for the Jackets came in the 7th minute on a penalty kick taken by Mittendorf to give the Jackets an early 1-0 lead.
In the 20th minute,
Julz Mohrbacher (Freedom, Pa. / Freedom) fired a shot in the low left corner of the goal off an assist by
Amanda Pepe (Mantua, N.J. / Gloucester County Institute of Technology) to take a 2-0 lead in the first half.
Eight minutes later, Mohrbacher put in her second goal of the game into the low left corner with an assist provided from Mittendorf at midfield. Waynesburg carried a 3-0 edge into the half after outshooting the Mounties 7-3.
The Yellow Jackets saw a fourth goal late in the second half during the 86th minute with Hershey heading home a corner kick from from
Ryan White (Lewisburg, W. Va. / Greenbrier East) into the bottom right corner of the goal.
Waynesburg held Mount Aloysius (0-1-1) without a shot in the second half and finished with a 14-3 edge in shots (9-2 SOG). The Jackets had all nine corner kicks recorded in the game.
Mohrbacher and Hershey scored in both of Waynesburg's games this season. Pepe assisted on both of Mohrbacher's goals.
The Yellow Jackets host La Roche on Sept. 3 at Wiley Stadium at 8 p.m.
