WAYNESBURG, Pa. (September 13) – The Waynesburg University women's tennis team earned its first win of the 2025–26 season on Saturday afternoon, defeating Mount Aloysius 4–3 at the Bechtle Family Tennis Facility.

The Yellow Jackets (1–2) dropped all three doubles matches to fall behind 1–0, but responded by taking four of the six singles flights. Freshman Taylor Stephens (Morgantown, W.Va. / Trinity Christian) picked up her first collegiate victory at No. 3 singles with a 7–6 (5), 6–4 decision. Senior Julia Corey (Eighty Four, Pa. / Ringgold) added a three-set win at No. 5 singles by scores of 6–2, 4–6, 6–4. Senior Alli Bailey (Mount Pleasant, Pa. / Mount Pleasant) closed out the day with a 6–0, 7–5 win at No. 6 singles.

Freshman Celeste Matsaudza (Boksburg, South Africa / St Dominic's Catholic School) also pushed her opponent to three sets at No. 1 singles before falling 7–6 (2), 2–6, 7–5.

The win not only put Waynesburg in the win column, but also snapped a five-match losing streak against Mount Aloysius. The Jackets improved to 1–2 on the year, while the Mounties fell to 1–3.

The Jackets return to action on Thursday, September 18, with a 6 p.m. home PAC matchup against Saint Vincent.
