Waynesburg, Pa. (September 16) - The Waynesburg University Women's soccer team notched a 6-0 win against Carlow University at John F. Wiley Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Julz Mohrbacher (Freedom, Pa. / Freedom) provided a pair of goals to help power the Yellow Jackets (6-1) to a shutout victory.
The first goal for the Jackets came in the 9th minute with a goal from
Amanda Pepe (Mantua, N.J. / Gloucester County Institute of Technology) to the lower left corner by a flick shot. The assist on the tally was provided by
Miracle Hershey (Lebanon County, Pa. / New Covenant Christian) with a pass from the left side to Pepe in the middle of the penalty box.
Shortly after in the 12th minute, Mohrbacher scored the Jackets' second goal by shouldering in feed from the right corner of the 18-yard box from Pepe.
22 seconds later,
Reagan Mittendorf (Bluffton, Ohio / Bluffton) scored for the Jackets to the bottom left of the goal to make it a 3-0 lead.
In the 34th minute, the Jackets picked up their fourth goal from
Ryan White (Lewisburg, W.Va. / Greenbrier East).
The Jackets scored the fifth goal of the half in the 40th minute from a goal by Mohrbacher off of a throw-in.
In the 66th minute, the Jackets scored to take a 6-0 lead from a goal by
Kya Huggins (Fairview, W.Va. / North Marion) to the upper right corner with another assist from Hershey.
The Jackets outshot the Celtics 40-1 (25-0 SOG) and had all 15 of the game's corner kicks on the night.
The Jackets will take to the road on Wednesday, Sept. 24 against Westminster in their Presidents' Athletic Conference opener. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
