Women’s Soccer plays to scoreless draw at Westminster

Jackets held sizeable advantages in multiple offensive categories, but settle for 0-0 tie

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Sept. 24) - The Waynesburg University women's soccer team traveled to Westminster on Wednesday evening for its first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game of 2025. The two squads battled to a scoreless draw.

In the first half, the Yellow Jackets (6-1-1, 0-0-1) had one shot on frame from freshman Jessi Jury (Greensburg, Pa. / Hempfield). Jury's shot came in the 26th minute to the low left corner of the goal mouth, but was saved by the Westminster (0-4-3, 0-0-1) keeper.

When half time rolled around, the Jackets held a 9-3 advantage in shots.

Waynesburg came out firing early in the second half with three shots on goal in the first four minutes. The first came courtesy of freshman Miracle Hershey (Lebanon County, Pa. / New Covenant Christian), the second by senior Reagan Mittendorf (Bluffton, Ohio / Bluffton), and the third by sophomore Amanda Pepe (Mantua, N.J. / Gloucester County Institute of Technology).

The Jacket assault didn't let up over the remainder of the half. Freshman Ryan White (Lewisburg, W.Va. / Greenbrier East) provided three shots on goal and junior Hailey Gilchrest (Hanover, Va. / Hanover) also put a trio of tries on net.

Mittendorf provided Wayensburg's best scoring opportunity of the evening, but her free kick banged off the top of the crossbar in the 84th minute.

Junior goalkeeper Lex Greenlief (Chester, W. Va. / Oak Glen) provided five saves on the night to hold the Titans to a scoreless draw.

The Jackets outshot the host squad 23-8 (11-5 SOG) and attempted seven of the game's eight corner kicks. Though a win eluded the Orange and Black, Waynesburg was able to halt an eight-game losing streak to Westminster.

The Jackets are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 27, with a home PAC game against Bethany. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
