WASHINGTON, Pa. (September 19) – The Waynesburg University volleyball competed in their first Presidents' Athletic Conference road match against Washington & Jefferson in the Salvitti Family Gymnasium on Friday evening.
The Presidents' (6-7, 1-1 PAC) took a three-set victory with set scores of 25-11, 25-11 and 25-14.
The Yellow Jackets played catch up in the first-set as Washington & Jefferson gained an early 5-0 lead. Waynesburg cut the deficit to 6-4 before the Presidents' regained their momentum to close out the set, 25-11.
W&J continued its momentum into the second set, never trailing and using a 9-0 run to lead 18-4 ahead of securing another 25-11 set win.
The Jackets fought hard in the third set after being down 7-0 early. Waynesburg worked back within four points (17-13) until eventually falling in three sets.
Kristina Zadrozny (McDonald, Pa. / West Allegheny) finished with seven kills.
Riley Ruffley (West Jefferson, Ohio / West Jefferson) led the Jackets with 12 assists and 11 digs.
The Jackets (1-11, 0-2 PAC) head to Bethany on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. match.
