WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 8) – The Waynesburg University men's golf team opened the season with a dual match victory against Geneva at the Greene County Country Club.
The top four scores contributed to the final tally for both squads. Waynesburg set a team score of 314 while Geneva notched a 349.
The Jackets held the first four finishers in the 14-man field and five of the top six scores overall.
Sophomore
Braden Benke (Waynesburg, Pa./Waynesburg Central) was the low man of the contest with a 75 followed one stroke behind by senior
Matt Karpeal (Smithfield, Pa./Albert Gallatin) with a 76.
Alan Tarolli (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) and
Hudson Pincavitch (Waynesburg, Pa./Waynesburg Central) rounded out the scoring quartet, notching marks of 81 and 82.
Freshman
David Moore (Waynesburg, Pa./Waynesburg Central) and
Brady Donovan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brentwood) made their collegiate debut with Moore placing sixth on a score of 88 and Donovan taking eighth at 91.
Waynesburg travels to the Oak Shadows Golf Club to participate in the Golden Eagles Invitational on Friday, September 19.
