SLOW AND STEADY
Though the results haven't been what Waynesburg has been hoping for in terms of wins and losses, tangible positive change is starting to manifest for the Yellow Jackets. Their defense has quietly moved into the top half of the league in terms of yards per game (332.2 ypg). That mark is over 70 yards per game lower than last year's final average (409.1). The unit's 15 sacks are just two behind last year's ending total of 17 and its seven interceptions have already surpassed last year's half-dozen picks.
SCOUTING THE WOLVERINES
Despite facing Mount Union and Cortland State, which have both won national titles in the last decade, Grove City sports some respectable numbers on both sides of the ball. The Wolverines come into Saturday's game ranked fourth in the PAC in scoring offense (32.8 ppg) and third in scoring defense (16.8 ppg). While ranking second in the PAC against the pass, Grove City does appear a bit more vulnerable on the ground, where they have allowed the fourth-most rushing yards per contest. Speaking of running the ball, sophomore Braxtyn Brown is currently ranked fifth in the league at 75.3 ypg. Sophomore quarterback Mike Holloman and senior wide receiver Darviae Gray also rank fifth at passing and receiving yardage, respectively.
GROVE CITY'S DARE NAMED PAC NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
Freshman Jack Dare was named PAC Newcomer of the Week after logging four tackles, one tackle for loss and a half sack Saturday in Grove City's 52-7 victory over Hiram.
THE UNFRIENDLY SKIES
Freshman quarterback Dominic Hickman is expected to get the start under center for Waynesburg and his first collegiate start could be a rough one if he challenges sophomore cornerback Cameron Epps, who leads the PAC in interceptions (5), breakups (10) and passes defended (15).
