WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct.24) – The Waynesburg University men's soccer team hosted Franciscan under the lights of John F. Wiley Stadium on Saturday for its last Presidents' Athletic Conference game of the year. The Yellow Jackets dropped a 2-1 final score to the Barons.
Franciscan (5-6-4, 5-2-4) opened the scoring with a goal in the 31
st minute and took that 1-0 edge into halftime. The Barons doubled their advantage in the 59
th minute.
Waynesburg pulled itself back into the game when senior
Zachary Johnson (Raceland, Ky. / St. Joseph Central Catholic) took a feed from senior
Matthew Serrano (North Potomac, Md. / Thomas S. Wootton) and found the back of the net for the fourth time this season late in the 61
st minute.
The Jackets attempted six more shots after Johnson's tally and was awarded a corner kick with 2:38 left to play. Unfortunately, none of those opportunities bore fruit and Franciscan left town with the win.
Waynesburg outshot Franciscan 20-18, but the visitors held an 8-5 edge in shots on goal.
The Jackets make one of their longest road trips of the season to wrap up the 2026 schedule on Wednesday, Oct. 28, when they face Alfred in a non-PAC match. Start time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
