LATROBE, Pa. (April 17) – The Waynesburg University men's tennis team traveled to Saint Vincent on Friday for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match with the Bearcats. The Yellow Jackets fell 5-2 to the host squad.
Saint Vincent (14-5 5-3) opened the match by taking the doubles point. Waynesburg (5-10, 1-6) nearly grabbed a victory at third doubles from sophomore
Sam Norris (Natrona Heights, Pa. / Highlands) and junior
Zachary Johnson (Raceland, Ky. / Saint Joseph Central Catholic, but came up just short in a 7-5 contest.
Waynesburg picked up victories at second and fifth singles. Sophomore
Noah Biser (Wake Forest, N.C. / Wake Forest) battled through his contest at second doubles to earn a 6-7, 6-3, 10-5 triumph at the number two spot. Junior
Tyler Gordon (Strongsville, Ohio / OHDELA) won in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 at the number-two position.
Norris went to three sets at his third-singles match, while Johnson nearly went to a third set at the sixth flight, which went 6-2, 7-5 to his opponent.
The Jackets wrap up the 2025-26 regular season tomorrow, when they travel to Geneva for an 11 a.m. PAC match that started on April 16 in Waynesburg, but was halted by poor weather conditions.
