NEW CASTLE, Pa. (Aug. 31) – The Waynesburg University men's golf team opened the 2026-27 season at Tuesday's Westminster Fall Invitational, which was held at Avalon Field Club. Several newcomers made their presence known as the Yellow Jackets finished ninth in the 15-team field with a four-man score of 332.
 
The Jackets were led by junior Alan Tarolli (Washington, Pa. / Fort Cherry), who tied for eighth place out of 89 golfers who completed the round with a five over par score of 77. Freshman Dominic Benamati (Waynesburg, Pa. / Waynesburg Central) followed with a 12-over 84, which put him a tie for 31st place.
 
Another Waynesburg freshman, Jon Burshiem (Flandreau, S.D. / Flandreau), finished one stroke behind Benamati with an 85, good for a tie for 39^th place. Junior Braden Benke (Waynesburg, Pa. / Waynesburg Central) completed Waynesburg's scoring four by firing the 45^th-place score of 86.
 
Freshmen Chase Werthman and Ethan Bare (Front Royal, Va. / Warren County) also competed for the Orange and Black. Werthman carded a 91, while Bare logged a 94.
 
Pitt Bradford took home the team title with a four-man score of 306. Bradford's Chas Hartnett claimed individual medalist honors with an even-par score of 72.

Waynesburg returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 8, when it hosts Geneva and Bethany for the Jacket Tri-Valley Classic. Tee time at the Greene County Country Club is scheduled for 10 a.m.
