WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 19) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team hosted Geneva for President's Athletic Conference (PAC) play on Saturday afternoon at John F. Wiley Stadium. The Yellow Jackets scored their fourth-straight win thanks to a 3-0 blanking of the Golden Tornadoes.
Waynesburg (4-3, 2-0) scored the only goal it needed 13 minutes into the contest when junior
Amanda Pepe (Mantua, N.J. / Gloucester Co. Institute of Technology) buried her third of the season. The home team maintained its slim 1-0 edge as it entered halftime.
The Jackets wasted little time after the break in padding its advantage. Sophomore
Bella Norton (Selden, N.Y. / Newfield) tallied her first of the season to make the score 2-0 just 22 seconds into the second half. Sophomore
Ryan White (Lewisburg, W.Va. / Greenbrier East) logged the assist.
The Orange and Black capped the day's scoring in the 63
rd minute when senior
Julz Mohrbacher (Freedom, Pa. / Freedom) bulled her way through the Geneva (2-3-2, 0-1-1) defense and buried her sixth of the campaign. The goal extended Mohrbacher's scoring streak to four-straight contests.
Waynesburg kept the pitch tilted all afternoon, as it outshot Geneva 17-5 on the day. The Jackets also doubled the GT's in terms of shots on goal (8-4).
Senior
Lex Greenlief (Chester, W.Va. / Oak Glen) recorded her second shutout of the season by making four saves.
The Jacket women look to stay perfect in conference action on Tuesday, Sept. 22, when it travels to Bethany to face the Bison. Start time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
