WASHINGTON, Pa. (Sept. 4) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team traveled north to Washington & Jefferson on Friday to participate in the Vicki Staton Memorial Tournament. The Yellow Jackets dropped 3-0 final scores to Meredith and Bluffton.
The Jackets (0-2) opened their day by falling 25-6, 25-9, 25-22 to Meredith (3-0). Senior
Kristina Zadrozny (McDonald, Pa. / West Allegheny) led the Orange and Black with a team-high six kills, while freshman
Bostyn Guinn (Dallas, Texas / Midlothian Heritage) helped out the attack with a match-high 12 assists. She barely missed out on a double-double with nine digs.
Waynesburg closed day one of the event by dropping a 25-12, 25-9, 25-20 contest against Bluffton (3-0). Senior
Audrey Work (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) logged a squad-best five kills and tied for the match lead with two aces. Guinn led her second-straight match in assists with 14.
Sophomore
Mallory Boyd (Columbus, Ohio / West Jefferson) and Zadrozny paced the Orange and Black defensive efforts with seven and six digs, respectively.
The Jackets return to Washington tomorrow for an 11 a.m. meeting with Alma.
