WASHINGTON, Pa. (Sept. 5) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team traveled to Washington & Jefferson College on Saturday to participate in the second and final day of the Vicki Staton Memorial Tournament. The Yellow Jackets fell 3-0 to Alma. The Scots took the three-set victory 25-6, 25-20, 25-10.
Sophomore
Mallory Boyd (Columbus, Ohio / West Jefferson) led the Yellow Jackets with seven kills, two aces and 13 digs. Senior
Ray Baniaga (Kalihi, Hawaii / Sacred Hearts) finished with a team-high nine assists and senior
Peyton Kuhns (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) recorded 10 digs.
At the conclusion of the event, sophomore
Katie Cottis (Wintersville, Ohio / Indian Creek), was selected to the all-tournament team.
Waynesburg will stay on the road as they continue non-conference play on Tuesday, Sept. 8, against Pitt Greensburg. The match begins at 6 p.m.
