CARLISLE, Pa. (Sept. 4) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team traveled all the way to Dickinson on Friday to face the Devils. The Yellow Jackets bounced back from a 2-0 halftime deficit, but couldn't complete the comeback in a 2-1 setback.
Dickinson (2-0) opened the scoring late in the 30
th minute and added the eventual game winner midway through the 38
th. Still trailing 2-0 at halftime, Waynesburg (0-2) finally broke through for a tally midway through the 50
th minute.
Junior
Amanda Pepe (Mantua, N.J. / Gloucester County Institute of Technology) gave her team its first goal of 2026 with an unassisted tally. The Jackets had a chance to strike again around four minutes later with two corner kicks in the span of 45 seconds. Pepe also let loose an attempt late in the 82
nd minute, but couldn't record an equalizer.
Senior goalkeeper
Lex Greenlief (Chester, W.Va. / Oak Glen) did all she could to give her team a chance for victory by piling 13 saves over 90 minutes of work.
Waynesburg plays its third game in five days tomorrow, when it heads to Susquehanna. Start time from Selinsgrove, Pa., is scheduled for 7 p.m.
