Men's soccer team shut out in PAC opener

Jackets fall to Grove City by a 3-0 final

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 11) – Three second-half goals sunk Waynesburg in a Presidents' Athletic Conference contest against Grove City under the lights of John F. Wiley Stadium on Saturday night.

The 3-0 loss was the PAC opener for the Yellow Jackets. The defeat dropped Waynesburg's overall record to 5-8-1. Grove City improved to 3-0 in the PAC, keeping them atop the conference, while also moving them to 4-7-2 overall.

 

After a scoreless first half, GCC's Joel Metz scored the eventual game-winner on a header off of a corner kick by Adam Brewer in the 50th minute of the contest. The Wolverines got a pair of goals by Chuck Witt to seal the win. Jake Kern assisted on both tallies for Grove City.

 

Waynesburg senior keeper Brad Davis made two saves over 90 minutes while taking the loss. The Wolverines' Sean Osborne stopped five Jacket shots on goal to record the complete-game shutout.

 

The Yellow Jackets return to conference play on Wednesday when they travel to Bethany College to take on the Bison. The game is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
