Men's soccer shuts out Thiel on senior night

Floyd's header gives Waynesburg 1-0 win over Tomcats

Box Score

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 24) – The Waynesburg University men's soccer picked up its second-straight Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win in a row on Saturday evening when they beat visiting Thiel 1-0 at John F. Wiley Stadium.

The win was made even sweeter by the fact that it came on senior night. Appropriately, one of those honored seniors played a part in the game's only goal. Nick Munnell, who was playing his final game at Wiley Stadium, fired a throw-in into the Thiel crease and sophomore David Floyd was able to head the ball in past Tomcat keeper Josh Hideg for the score just five minutes into the game.

Another senior, Luke Navickas, got the start in net and worked all 90 minutes to pick up the complete-game shutout. He stopped two shots on goal to help lead his team to victory.

The Jacket offense kept the pressure on a pair of Thiel keepers by out-shooting their opposition 24-8 on the night.

The Jackets are back in action on Oct. 28, when they travel to Geneva to face the Golden Tornadoes.
