WAYNESBURG, PA (Feb. 13) - The Yellow Jackets made quick work of visiting Clarion University on Saturday, February 7^th in front of a vibrant crowd in their POVL home opener.  The Jackets beat Clarion University 3-0 picking up their first conference cross-over and home victory this season.

The Jackets took control of the match from the first point in set 1 and never looked back as they cruised to 3 set victory over the visiting Golden Eagles.  The squad beat Clarion by a combined 29 points through all 3 sets and walked away with their first win at home this season.  No one Jacket stood out as multiple players delivered notable performances on both offense and defense.

The first set saw the jackets jump out to a commanding lead off of seven straight points including 2 aces by sophomore setter Jake Buss.  After a 7-0 start the Jackets delivered a pair of point runs bringing the score to 15-8.  Thanks to the Yellow Jackets defense the men cruised to a (25-17) victory in their first set.  The second and third set were much of the same as the Jackets delivered on defense early in each match and held the golden Eagles off during late charges during the latter parts of the sets.  Serving contributed to each set victory with a considerable amount of points coming off of serves.  The Jackets finished the last two sets (25-15, 25-14).

The Jackets offense was once again commanded by Jake Buss who dished up 22 assists and added 7 digs.  Sophomore, Jake Reynolds and freshman, Joel Wingard combined for 18 digs and each added 1 assist.  First year outside hitter junior, outside hitter Luke Navickas dealt out 6 kills and Jake Reynolds lead the team in kills with 7 out of 11 attempts.
