Track teams perform well in Denison meet

Waynesburg men and women set multiple school records

GRANVILLE, OHIO (Feb. 26)—The Waynesburg University track men's and women's track teams continued their early-season success when they traveled to Denison College this weekend.

The Yellow Jackets set several indoor school records in the process.

For the men's team, junior Trale Merz set a new school records in the men's 200-meter dash at 24.00 seconds and 400-meter dash at 54.19 seconds.

Merz also teamed up with freshman Casey Kaiser, freshman Jon Phelan and junior Jordan Wrask to set a new indoor school record in the 4x200-meter relay by placing third with a time of 1:45.65.

Rounding out the top performances on the men's side was junior thrower Jeremy Faidley who came up short of a school record but finished with a third-place effort in the shot put with a throw of 13.63 meters (44' 8.25").

On the women's side, junior Mikey Macosko led the way with several key performances.

First she teamed up with the freshman trio of Kayla Brian, Alyssa Laird and Rhea Huwe to set a school record in the women's 4x200-meter relay with a mark of 1:59.34. Macosko also tied her own school record in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.23.

Freshman Jaimee Post placed first overall in the long jump where she tied her own school record (4.65 meters, 15' 3.25") which she set last week at Kenyon.

Rounding out the top performances on the women's side was sophomore Krystal Baker, who won the triple jump with a leap of 9.95 meters (32' 7.75"). The sophomore also set a new school record in the high jump (1.57 meters, 5' 1.75") where she placed second for the event. To finish off her strong day Baker placed third in the pole vault with a leap of 2.9 meters (9' 6.25").

The event was the last test for both squads before the NCAA Division III Indoor Nationals at DePauw University (Greencastle, Ind.) on March 12-13.
