WAYNESBURG, PA (Mar. 10) – The Men's Volleyball team highlighted a 3-3 day with two set victories against visiting Clarion University and a one-set win against the eventual quad champions, Allegheny College.
The POVL Quad Matches followed a tournament format with two sets to 25 played regardless of score for each match in round robin play. The Quad Match #1 and #2 seeds were selected by set wins followed by point differential. Allegheny College defeated Robert Morris University in a 2-1 match victory to take the Quad Matches with Waynesburg finishing number three followed by Clarion University.
Waynesburg would finish the day with 3 set wins and 3 set losses. “I feel we showed improvement in some areas but there are still some mental mistakes that we need to fix.” Commented Coach James Patterson. “We cannot play so erratically, up and down so often, and expect to win all the time.” The squad would take Allegheny 1 set from Allegheny after dropping the first set of the match. Clarion would be the next to fall to Waynesburg by a score of 2 sets to none. The Jackets would then loose two pivotal sets to Robert Morris keeping them out of the championship match and moving them to third place on the day.
A detailed breakdown of scores and statistics will be posted shortly. Please check back to view the Quad Matches in their entirety.
