Waynesburg to Play Host to Inaugural POVL Cross-Over Quad Matches

Waynesburg continues to play a major role as the POVL legitimizes its strength as a conference

WAYNESBURG, PA (Mar. 4) – Waynesburg University will play host to the second annual Penn-Ohio Volleyball League (POVL) Cross-Over matches on Saturday, March 6, 2010 in the Rudy Marisa Field House starting at 10AM.  Waynesburg will joined by Robert Morris University, Allegheny College and Clarion University.

The POVL Cross-Over Quad Match allows teams from different divisions within the conference to play each other during the regular season without the costs and complications of a full tournament.  Waynesburg and Robert Morris will represent the South division while Allegheny and Clarion will carry the Central division banner.  The Quad Match is the second Cross-Over hosted by Waynesburg University in as many years and has doubled in team participation from 2 to 4 this season.

“This has been a great opportunity for us as well as the teams that have participated in last year's exhibition cross-over.” Commented Jackets Head Coach, James Patterson.  “This is an opportunity to expand competition beyond divisional play without the cost and the time commitment of a full day tournament mid season.”

The following Quad Match format will be subject to change based on match lengths.  All matches will be ranked by set wins followed by point differentials in the case of ties:

10am – RMU and Alleghany

11am – Waynesburg and Clarion

12pm – Clarion and RMU

1pm – Allegheny and Waynesburg

2pm – Clarion and Allegheny

3pm – RMU and Waynesburg

4:30pm - #1st Place Finisher vs. #2nd Place Finisher
