WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 11) - The Waynesburg Yellow Jackets fell to Frostburg State by a score of 2-1 in Saturday afternoon men's soccer.
The two teams were deadlocked in a 0-0 tie going into half, with neither side displaying a clear advantage. Frostburg State would break the tie in the 56th minute, as Shawn Baker found the back of the net for the game's first goal. Frostburg State would strike again in the 77th minute, giving them a commanding 2-0 lead.
However, the Jackets offense would come alive, as the constant pressure resulted in Stephen Zimmerman scoring his first goal of the season on a beautiful pass from Tim Fields to make it 2-1. While Waynesburg would have its chances in the final minutes, they were unable to capitalize and the game would end at that score.
The Yellow Jackets are now 1-3-1 on the season and will look to rebound on the road at Mt. Aloysius on Sept. 13.
