Men's soccer drops heart-breaker at W&J

Yellow Jacket offense struggles in 1-0 loss to Presidents

WASHINGTON, Pa. (Oct. 22) – Waynesburg University men's soccer team traveled north on I-79 on Saturday to square off with Washington & Jefferson in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) showdown.
 
The Yellow Jackets played right with W&J on the Presidents' home field, but after giving up an early goal, Waynesburg was unable to recover and dropped a 1-0 decision. With the loss, the Jackets fell to 7-8 overall and 2-4 in PAC play. W&J improved to 6-9 on the year and 3-3 in conference action.
 
The host team found the back of the net during the 43rd minute of play and Waynesburg was unable to respond. Though the Presidents out-shot the Jackets 14-10, the visiting team attempted six shots, to W&J's five in the second half. Senior Ryan Hunsberger started in net for Waynesburg and made nine saves on the day.
 
The Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 26, when they host Bethany for their final home game of the season. Start time is scheduled for 8:15 p.m.
