Men's soccer falls at Bethany

Yellow Jackets come up short in 2-1 loss to Bison

Box Score

BETHANY, W. Va. (Oct. 16) – The Waynesburg University men's soccer team traveled to Bethany College on Tuesday afternoon for a  Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup with the Bison. Unfortunately, the Yellow Jackets' potent offense was kept in check by the host team and Waynesburg fell 2-1.

Bethany (5-9-1, 1-2-1) opened the scoring in the first half and took its 1-0 lead into period number two. The Bison doubled its advantage in the second half, before Waynesburg's (9-2-1, 2-1-0) finally got on the board late in the second period thanks to a goal from senior Tim Fields. Unfortunately, that was the end of the scoring as the Bison held on to take the victory.

Junior goalkeeper Brandon Daughtry made six saves over 90 minutes in net. After Bethany out-shot the Jackets eight-to-four in the first half, Waynesburg closed the gap over the final 45 minutes of play by posting 11 shots in period number two, to the Bison's 10 tries.

The Yellow Jackets, who saw a five-match winning streak come to an end in West Virginia, will try to return to their winning ways on Saturday, Oct. 19, when they travel to Thomas More. Start time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
