Things to Watch For
  • Saturday's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) showdown features not only two of the best quarterbacks in the conference, but in all of Division III. Bethany's Matt Grimard and Waynesburg's Carter Hill rank one-two in passing yards per game in the PAC, one-three in total offense per game and were both named 2013 PAC Offensive Players of the Week. Hill's 1,816 total passing yards is the second-highest mark in the country, while Grimard ranks seventh (1,682).
  • The two standout signal callers have piled up their huge numbers in very different ways. Grimard has relied heavily on standout sophomore wide receiver Eric Blinn, who leads the conference in both receptions (51) and receiving yards per game (137.0 ypg). Blinn has accounted for 42.5 percent of his team's catches and 40.7 percent of Bethany's receiving yardage. Hill, on the other hand, has thrown for at least 145 yards to six different receivers, with junior Andrew English piling up a team-high 497 yards. He has also connected on touchdown passes to eight different receivers. Grimard has done the same with just three different teammates.
  • Blinn is among the nation's leaders in all-purpose yardage. His 201.40 yards per game (685 receiving yards, 296 kickoff return yards and 26 punt return yards) place him seventh in Division III and second in the PAC.
  • While most eyes will be fixed on who wins the quarterback battle, Waynesburg's defense has started to return to its 2012 form just in time to face one of its biggest offensive threats of the year. The Yellow Jackets are giving up the second-fewest points per game in the conference (23.7 points per game), while the Bison are tops in the league in total offense (450.8 yards per game).
  • As he has had to do for the entirety of his Bethany playing career, Grimard will need to know where Waynesburg senior defensive end Brandon Fedorka is at all times. The standout is having perhaps his best season as a Yellow Jacket. Fedorka leads the PAC in sacks (8.5) and tackles for loss (12.0). He also leads all conference defensive linemen in total tackles with 36. The Bison offensive line has also been vulnerable to the pass rush, having given up the second-most sacks in the PAC (15). Waynesburg has recorded the second-most sacks in the conference (14).
  • Last year, Waynesburg kicker Alex Henry booted a 26-yard field goal against Bethany with 16 seconds remaining in the game that provided the game-winning points in the 23-21 Jacket victory. Should a similar late-game situation arise, Henry seems better prepared this year to handle it. He comes into Saturday's game as the number-one kicker in the PAC, having connected on 25-of-26 PAT tries, with his only miss being a block. Henry has also converted on five-of-seven field goal tries with four of his makes coming from 40 yards or longer.
