Series Breakdown
All-Time Series: First meeting

Things to Watch For:
  • Saturday marks the first ever meeting of the football programs from Waynesburg University and Case Western Reserve University, despite the two schools being separated by just three hours and less than 200 miles.

  • Following last week's 35-0 win at Grove City, Waynesburg has now recorded three shutouts in its last 11 games stretching back to the 2013 season.

  • Speaking of defenses, Case Western Reserve's unit is one of the best in the Presidents' Athletic Conference. The Spartans top the PAC in scoring defense (16.0 ppg), rush defense (114 ypg) and red zone defense.

  • The Spartan unit is led by junior linebacker KJ Pederson, who leads the team with 38 tackles, including two sacks, to go along with a forced fumble two pass break-ups. Junior linebacker Everett Dishong has 29 tackles, including team bests of 8.5 tackles for loss and five sacks, with five pass break-ups.

  • The Case defense will likely be facing its toughest test of the year so far in a Waynesburg offense that ranks third in the conference in scoring (34.8 ppg), third in total offense (430.8 ypg), third in passing (269.6 ypg) and second in first downs per game (21.8).

  • Waynesburg will want to keep a close eye on Case sophomore Brendan Lynch, who is the current University Athletic Association (UAA) Offensive Player of the Week). Against Bethany, Lynch posted career bests of seven receptions for 80 yards and two touchdowns. He also added 101 kick return yards with a career-long 43-yarder on the game's opening kickoff. For the season, Lynch has 18 receptions for 168 yards and nine kick returns for 233 yards (25.9 ypr).

  • Saturday is Waynesburg's annual homecoming game. The Yellow Jackets have won their last four homecoming contests.
