WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 24) – Senior goalkeeper
Brandon Daughtry had a night to remember during the Waynesburg University men's soccer team's home Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game with Washington & Jefferson. Daughtry not only made six saves against the Presidents, but scored a goal on a punt to preserve a 1-1 double-overtime tie.
The Yellow Jackets (7-6-4, 3-2-1) fell behind in the 38
th minute of play and looked to be headed to defeat as regulation time wore down to its final few minutes. That's when Daughtry let fly with a punt that was misplayed by the W&J (5-10-1, 1-4-1) keeper and found its way into the net in the 87
th minute.
The two teams played out the remainder of regulation time before the game advanced to overtime. Waynesburg out-shot its opposition seven-to-three in OT, but was unable to find the back of the net. The Jackets held a 22-to-13 advantage in total shots on the night.
Waynesburg is back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 29, when it heads to Geneva. Start time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
