Jacket softball team picks up first win of the spring during split

Waynesburg downs Albion 6-3, falls 9-5 to Catholic

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 KISSIMMEE, Fla. (March 10) – The Waynesburg University softball team picked up its first win of the season on Monday at the Rebel Spring Games. The Yellow Jackets defeated Albion (Mich.) 6-3 during the first game of the day, before falling 9-5 against Catholic University.
 
The Jackets (1-3) were led by senior pitcher Carrie Maier, who improved to 1-1 in the circle with the victory over the Britons (0-4). The Cardinals (3-2) jumped out to a 5-1 lead after three innings, but trimmed the lead down to one run (6-5) going into the sixth inning. Catholic tacked on three late tallies to close up the victory.
 
Waynesburg is off Tuesday before getting back to work on Wednesday, March 12. The Jackets will tangle with Wheaton (Mass.) College for a second time in three days at 9 a.m., before facing Husson (Maine) at 11 a.m.
