Box Score WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 18) – Two overtime periods and 110 minutes of game action were not enough time to decide a winner Wednesday night, as the Waynesburg University women's soccer team tied Marietta College 1-1 at John F. Wiley Stadium. Both goals were scored within two minutes of each other late in the second half.
After a scoreless first half, Waynesburg (3-1-2) took the advantage in the 76th minute thanks to a goal by freshman forward
Melanie Byler. It was Byler's third goal of the season.
The Jackets lead diminished just 1:18 later, when the Pioneers scored on junior goalkeeper
Ciara Scott. Despite the goal, Scott played well in net, making seven saves on eight shots on goal. Her seven saves matched her season-high versus La Roche College Sept. 6.
The Orange and Black took 26 shots in the contest, with 16 of them on goal.
Waynesburg hits the road again to take on the University of Mount Union on Saturday, Sept. 20. Start time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
