th-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology and 16
th-ranked Baldwin Wallace.
Waynesburg (2-4) downed the Golden Bears (2-6) 43-9, before falling 26-19 to Stevens (6-2) and 30-12 to Baldwin Wallace (7-3). The Jackets held leads in all three contests, and nearly upset the 12
th-ranked Ducks in a match that featured a pair of Waynesburg losses that came by two points or less.
Junior 141-pounder
Filippo Crivelli led the home team by going undefeated in three contested bouts. He started his day by downing West Virginia Tech's Dennis Marmalyukov by 13-3 major decision. Crivelli then notched a second-straight major decision (15-3) over Stevens' Gianpierre DiBattista. The Waynesburg standout ended his day by upsetting B-W's Josh Decatur 5-1. Decatur was listed as a contender for the top 10 on D3Wrestle.com.
Junior 184-pounder
Ryan Shank also went 3-0 on the day. After picking up forfeits against both West Virginia Tech and Stevens, Shank scored an impressive victory by controlling BW's Ben Lebrun to the tune of a 6-1 decision. Lebrun is listed just outside the D3Wrestle.com national top 10 list.
Freshman heavyweight
Jake Evans posted a 2-0 mark on Saturday. After pinning Stevens' Pete Andrish in 2:14, Evans gutted out a 2-0 victory over BW's Joe Belford. Despite giving up around 40 pounds to Belford, who is an honorable mention listing on D3Wrestle.com, Evans took a 1-0 lead on a second-period escape, before riding out his opponent for the entire two minutes of period number three.
Sophomore 133-pounder
Zach Swarrow went 2-1 at 133 pounds, with his only loss coming to Baldwin Wallace's Jesse Gunter. Gunter is not only the number-three-ranked wrestler in the country, but is a two-time Division III All-American. Swarrow picked up his team's fastest pin, which came in 49 seconds against West Virginia Tech's Brannon King. He also recorded an 8-0 major decision against Stevens' Joey Borai.
Senior
Gordan Bieber and sophomore
Tristan Buxton were both victorious at 125 pounds, as was senior heavyweight
Greg Kumer. Sophomore 165-pounder
Landon Lohr and freshman 174-pounder
Mike Millero picked up forfeits against West Virginia Tech.
BW went 3-0 on the day, while Stevens posted a 2-1 record. West Virginia Tech dropped all three of its contests.
The Jackets are back in action on Saturday, Dec. 19, when they travel to Division II Seton Hill. Start time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
