The victory gives Waynesburg (12-10, 9-6 PAC) a regular season sweep of Thiel (5-17, 4-11 PAC) for the third consecutive year. With three regular season games left, Waynesburg remains in fourth place in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) standings
Thiel sank five of its first eight shots and raced out to a 16-8 lead just five minutes into the game. Over the next seven minutes the tied of the game took a drastic turn, as the Yellow Jackets responded with a 16-0 run, flipping an eight-point deficit into an eight-point lead. The surge was jumpstarted by three- pointers from senior guard
Hayden Giuliani and sophomore guard
Katie Gehlmann. Waynesburg expanded its lead to 13 by halftime, as the Yellow Jackets converted 14 Tomcat turnovers into 18 first-half points. Overall, Waynesburg forced 25 turnovers, while Thiel forced just 10 turnovers.
The Jackets kept up the pressure in the second half by scoring 12 of the half's first 16 points, methodically increasing its lead to 21. On the night, 12 different Waynesburg players scored to give the squad its second-straight conference victory. The Orange and Black made 41 percent of its attempts, while Thiel shot 38 percent.
Waynesburg will return to action on Saturday in a PAC matchup at Bethany. Tipoff from the Hummel Field House is scheduled for 2 p.m.
