Match Results WAYNESBURG, Pa. (March 18) – The Waynesburg University men's tennis team opened up Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play on Wednesday with a home match against Bethany. The Yellow Jackets swept the contest's three doubles matches as part of a 7-2 win over the Bison.
Waynesburg (2-2, 1-0) improved to 2-0 in the spring season, thanks in large part to the strong start to the contest. Senior
Isaiah Cochran and sophomore
Timothy Harris got things rolling with an 8-2 win at the number-one doubles spot. Senior
Philip Littlejohn and freshman
Andrew Brunette followed with an 8-3 triumph at second doubles, before senior
Colin Phillips and freshman
Adam McKnight completed the sweep after posting an 8-2 victory at the number-three position.
Cochran, Harris and Littlejohn added singles wins at the first, second and third positions, respectively, all in straight sets. Waynesburg's final victory of the day came courtesy of McKnight at the number-six spot. The first-year player won in straight sets, but battled to do so in a 7-5, 7-5 match.
The Jackets are back in action on Saturday, March 21, when they travel to Thomas More. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
