Match Results WAYNESBURG, Pa. (March 24) – The Waynesburg University men's tennis team played host to Division II Fairmont State on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets battled the Falcons on their home court, but came up on the short end of a 7-2 final score.
Waynesburg (3-3) was led by senior
Philip Littlejohn, who scored victories in both singles and doubles competition. Littlejohn teamed up with freshman
Andrew Brunette to pick up an 8-5 win at number-two doubles. The senior followed that up with a hard-fought 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 triumph at third singles.
The Jackets came close to sweeping Tuesday's doubles matches, but lost at the number-one and number-three spots by scores of 9-7 and 8-5, respectively. Senior
Isaiah Cochran took his match at first singles to three sets before falling 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 and sophomore
Timothy Harris came painfully close to a victory at second singles (7-6, 7-6).
Waynesburg is back in action on Thursday, March 26, when it returns to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) competition. The Jackets travel to Washington & Jefferson for a 3 p.m. match.
