ALFRED, N.Y. (Sept. 4) – The Waynesburg University men's soccer team jumped out to an early 1-0 lead during its match on Friday against Alfred State. Unfortunately, the Yellow Jackets couldn't hold their slim advantage and fell 2-1 at a weekend tournament hosted by Alfred University.
A pair of Waynesburg (0-2) newcomers combined for the Jackets' first tally of the season during the 34

Matt Porter, who put the Orange and Black ahead 1-0.
The Jackets maintained their slim advantage into the second half, where the Pioneers (1-1) scored twice within the span of roughly eight minutes to pull out the win. Goal number one came in the 52
nd minute, before the eventual game-winner hit the back of the net in the 60
th minutes.
The only glaring statistical difference between the two teams was a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks for Waynesburg. Senior goalkeeper
Nathan Ribar suffered the loss in net after stopping five shots on goal.
The Jackets will take another shot at their first win of the season tomorrow when they face the host Saxons. Start time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
