Men's soccer travels to Grove City

Zurik scores in 5-1 loss

GROVE CITY, Pa. (Oct. 26) – The Waynesburg University men's soccer team traveled to Grove City for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest on Wednesday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets fell behind early en route to a 5-1 loss.
 
The host Wolverines (14-3-1, 6-1-1) took a 2-0 lead into halftime, before extending their advantage to 3-0 in the 55th minute. Waynesburg (4-11-1, 2-4-1) broke up the shutout in the 77th minutes when sophomore Austin Zurik scored his team-leading third goal of 2016. Freshman Justin Buberl recorded his Jacket-best fifth assist to set up the tally.
 
GCC rebounded from the score to close out the win with goals in the 79th and 84th minutes. Those tallies came during a 24-shot effort from the host squad. Waynesburg countered with five total shots on the day.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper James Snyder stopped nine-of-14 shots on goal during the loss.
 
The Jackets wrap up the 2016 schedule on Saturday, Oct. 29, when they make a road trip to Westminster. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
