GROVE CITY, Pa. (Oct. 26) – The Waynesburg University men's soccer team traveled to Grove City for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest on Wednesday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets fell behind early en route to a 5-1 loss.
The host Wolverines (14-3-1, 6-1-1) took a 2-0 lead into halftime, before extending their advantage to 3-0 in the 55
th minute. Waynesburg (4-11-1, 2-4-1) broke up the shutout in the 77
th minutes when sophomore
Austin Zurik scored his team-leading third goal of 2016. Freshman
Justin Buberl recorded his Jacket-best fifth assist to set up the tally.
GCC rebounded from the score to close out the win with goals in the 79
th and 84
th minutes. Those tallies came during a 24-shot effort from the host squad. Waynesburg countered with five total shots on the day.
Sophomore goalkeeper
James Snyder stopped nine-of-14 shots on goal during the loss.
The Jackets wrap up the 2016 schedule on Saturday, Oct. 29, when they make a road trip to Westminster. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
