WAYNESBURG, Pa. (March 30) – The Waynesburg University men's tennis team hosted Thiel College for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match. Despite playing with just five players and being forced to give up two forfeits, the Yellow Jackets managed a 6-3 win over the Tomcats.
Waynesburg (2-8, 1-1) got off to a solid start by winning both contested doubles matches. Junior
Tim Harris and freshman
Josh Denham scored an 8-1 win at the number-one spot, while freshman
Jonah Cooper and sophomore
Adam McKnight put together an 8-0 triumph at second doubles.
The Jackets kept up their winning ways in singles competition, where Harris, Denham, Cooper and McKnight all won in straight sets. Thiel (0-1, 0-1) picked up its only contested victory at the number-five spot.
Waynesburg returns to competition on Saturday, April 2, when it hosts Geneva. Start time is scheduled for 9 a.m. The Jackets are also scheduled to face Penn State Altoona that same day at 3 p.m.
