Men's soccer falls at Capital

Waynesburg scores first, but falls 3-1 to Crusaders

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Sept. 17) – The Waynesburg University men's soccer team hit the road for a matchup with Capital University on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets looked poised to pull an upset following the game's first score, but the Crusaders rebounded to take the 3-1 victory

Waynesburg (2-4) managed to slip in the game's first tally just before halftime. Junior Zach Mitschke scored his team-leading second goal of 2016 during the 43rd minute of action to put the Jackets ahead 1-0. The visiting squad carried that edge into halftime, before Capital (5-1) tied the contest at 1-1 10:47 into the second period.

The home team notched the eventual game winner three minutes later to go up 2-1. Capital added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute to seal up the victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper James Snyder started and played all 90 minutes in net. He stopped nine-of-12 shots on goal.

Waynesburg returns to play on Monday, Sept. 19, with a home game against Franciscan. Start time is scheduled for 8 p.m.
