PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Sept .3) – The Waynesburg University men's soccer team opened its 2016 season on Friday with a road trip to La Roche. The Yellow Jackets battled The Redhawks over 90 minutes of action, before coming up just short of victory in a 1-0 contest.
 
La Roche (1-0) tallied the game's only score in the 40^th minute of play. Waynesburg (0-1) played right with their hosts, out-shooting the Hawks by a slim 11-10 margin. However, the Jackets were denied the opportunity to attempt a corner kick over the expanse of the loss, while La Roche attempted eight from the corners.
 
Sophomore James Snyder started and played all 90 minutes in net for Waynesburg. He stopped three-of-four shots on goal.
 
The Jackets are right back in action on Saturday, when they host Pitt Bradford. Start time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
