Men's tennis wraps up regular season

Jackets fall at home against Bethany

Match Results

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (April 22) – The Waynesburg University men's tennis team wrapped up the 2016-17 regular season on Saturday with a home match against Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Bethany. The Yellow Jackets fell 6-3 to the Bison.

Freshman Tanner McKnight had a big day on the court, posting a 2-0 record for the Jackets (5-13, 2-6). McKnight rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win at fifth singles and also teamed up with fellow freshman James Zeremenko for an 8-3 triumph at third doubles.

Waynesburg's only other win against Bethany (6-7, 4-4), was earned by sophomore Jonah Cooper, who was victorious 7-6, 6-1 at first singles. The home team came frustratingly close to pulling out the team victory, but dropped three-set matches at the number-four and number-six singles slots.

The Jackets now turn their attention to the upcoming PAC Championships, which will be hosted by Pennbriar Athletic Club in Erie, Pennsylvania, on April 28 and 29. Start time on Friday is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
