BETHANY, W.Va. (April 10) – The Waynesburg University men's tennis team hit the road for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match on Tuesday against Bethany. The Yellow Jackets came out victorious with a 7-2 win over the Bison.
Waynesburg (4-5, 1-2) swept the three doubles flights against Bethany (0-9, 0-5). Juniors Jonah Copper and
Josh Denham started the day off with an 8-3 win at the lead-off spot. Senior
Adam McKnight and junior
Brian Drake followed with an 8-3 victory of their own at second doubles. Sophomore
James Zeremenko and freshman
Avery White completed the sweep with an 8-4 win at the number-three flight.
Cooper, McKnight and Drake completed 2-0 days with wins over their respective singles opponents. Copper won his match in straight sets over Chris Ray, 6-4, 6-2. Denham lost the second flight to Drake Berlin in a three-set thriller, 6-7 (6-8), 7-6 (7-5), 1-0 (10-8). Senior Andrew Brunette defeated Danny Booth in the third flight, 6-0 and 6-1. McKnight and Drake also won in straight sets.
The Yellow Jackets return to the hardcourt for home PAC matchup on Wednesday, April 11, against the Thomas More Saints. Start time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
