Men's soccer defeats UPG

Yellow Jackets score 2-1 victory over Bobcats

GREENSBURG, Pa. (Sept. 20) – The Waynesburg University men's soccer team hit the road for a non-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) test at Pitt Greensburg. The Yellow Jackets took a 2-0 lead en route to a 2-1 victory.

Waynesburg (3-4) opened the scoring in the 11th minute when sophomore Daniel Hott headed home a cross from junior Nate Biondi. After taking that one-goal edge into halftime, the Jackets needed just five seconds to score the eventual game-winning point. After Hott touched off the opening tip, senior Tyler Sisler fired in his third goal of the season to make the score 2-0.

Pitt Greensburg (2-4-1) got back into the game with a goal 55 seconds later on its next shot. Sophomore goalkeeper Adam Dolan and the Jacket defense were able to make the one-goal lead hold up, with Dolan logging two saves in the half to preserve the win.

The Jackets outshot Pitt Greensburg 15-7 and held a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal. The visiting team also held a 3-1 advantage on corner kicks.

Waynesburg is next in action on Saturday, when it travels to Baldwin Wallace for a battle of the Yellow Jackets. Start time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
