Men's soccer travels to W&J

Waynesburg drops 4-2 decision to Presidents

WASHINGTON, Pa. (Oct. 16) – The Waynesburg University men's soccer team traveled to Washington & Jefferson on Wednesday night for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match against the Presidents. The Yellow Jackets came out on the wrong end of a 4-2 final score.

W&J (6-6-2, 3-0-1) opened the scoring with a goal in the 18th minute. Waynesburg (3-8-2, 0-2-2) kept the difference at just one goal throughout the remainder of the first half. The game was ultimately decided in the 62nd minute, when the Presidents scored twice within 27 seconds to go up 3-0. The home team extended its advantage to 4-0 late in the 67th minute.

To Waynesburg's credit, it didn't give up as time ticked away. Senior Dante Ohm (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Hills) broke up the shutout with a goal in the 75th minute. The game's final tally was posted roughly seven minutes courtesy of junior Kyle Deaner (Somerset, Pa. / Somerset). Deaner nearly scored again, but misfired wide of the goal mouth in the 86th minute.

Senior Justin Buberl (Westminster, Md. / Westminster) attempted a team-high three shots for the Orange and Black.

Junior Adam Dolan (McDonald, Pa. / West Allegheny) started and was the goalie of record for Waynesburg after logging 76:40 in net. Freshman Matthew Hilarzewski (Crafton, Pa. / Carlynton) closed out the night by making one save over the final 13:20 of play.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 19, when Westminster comes to John F. Wiley Stadium. Start time is scheduled for 8 p.m.
