WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 2) – The Waynesburg University men's soccer team played host to Grove City on Saturday night. The Yellow Jackets found themselves tied with the Wolverines at halftime and in position to try for a memorable upset. Unfortunately, the visitors scored three times in the second half on their way to a 4-2 win.
After the Wolverines (4-6, 2-0) opened the scoring in the 35
th minute, Waynesburg (1-8, 0-2) got the equalizer from freshman
Connor Jacobs (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro) roughly 9:30 later. The score remained knotted at 1-1 as the first half came to a close.
Unfortunately for the home team, Grove City scored in the 46
th, 51
st and 75
th minutes to lock down its latest win. Junior
Samuel Hawkins (St. Mary's County, Md. / Great Mills) closed out the scoring in the 82
nd minute.

Michael Francus (Bethel Park, Pa. / Bethel Park) started and played the first 75:27 of action, during which he tallied two saves. Sophomore
Zach Burke (Bowie, Md. / Bowie) closed out the night with 14:33 of two-save, scoreless soccer.
The Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 6, when they travel to Chatham for another conference contest. Start time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
