Women's cross country earns sixth-straight PAC title

Race Results

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Oct. 30) – The Waynesburg University women's cross county team traveled to the 2021 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships on Saturday seeking a sixth-straight conference crown. This year's event was one of the tightest in recent memory, but the Yellow Jackets showed their mental toughness and drive by pulling out a one-point win over second-place Franciscan to continue its championship run.

Waynesburg's latest championship victory was powered by three top-10 finishes with senior Aubrey Wingeart (King George, Va. / King George) leading the charge with the second-place time of 24:07.37. Wingeart has posted top-three finishes at the event in each of her four years of competition, including the 2019 individual title.

Senior Gloria Reed (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point) continued to build upon her own impressive collegiate resume with the fifth-place time of 24:51.12, which also earned her first-team All-PAC applause. She is now a four-time all-conference honoree (Three first-team, one second).

Waynesburg's top-10 trio was completed by sophomore Gabrielle Reifsnyder (Carlisle, Pa. / Big Spring), who earned second-team all-conference laurels with the number-10 time of 26:00.81. The Jackets also boasted an honorable mention All-PAC performer in sophomore Joula Anderson (Greensburg, Pa. / Greensburg Salem). Anderson posted the 15th-place time of 26:22.88.

Waynesburg's scoring five was completed by senior Monica Kolencik (Uniontown, Pa. / Geibel Catholic), who finished one spot outside of the top 21, which was the cut off for All-PAC status. Kolenic finished in 22nd place (26:51.25).

Veteran Waynesburg head coach Chris Hardie picked up his seventh PAC Women's Coach of the Year honor in the last eight years. Kolencik was Waynesburg's representative on the PAC Sportsmanship team.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, Nov. 13, when they compete in the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships. The event is being held in Newville, Pennsylvania.
