Men's soccer goes to OT at Bethany

Yellow Jackets fall 3-2 to Bison

BETHANY, W.Va.(Oct. 9) -  The Waynesburg University men's soccer team traveled to Bethany on Saturday for a Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup. After 90 minutes of regulation time, the two teams were tied at 2-2 to force overtime. Unfortunately for Waynesburg, the Bison scored the game winning goal in the 91st minute of the 3-2 contest.

Waynesburg (5-6, 1-3-0) gave up a goal in the second minute of the game, but battled back to take the lead thanks to goals in the 17th minute and in the 60th minute. Freshman Connor Jacobs (Waynesboro, Pa / Waynesboro) notched the visitors' first score, which was assisted upon by freshman Seth Massotti (Douglass, Mass. / Whittinsville). The second goal was scored by senior Daniel Hott (Cumberland, Md. / Fort Hill).

After yielding its early lead to the Jackets, Bethany (4-5-1, 1-3-0) tied the score in the 62nd minute. Neither team could retake the advantage over the final 28 minutes, so the game continued into overtime. The Bison logged the golden goal 1:59 into the OT period.

Sophomore Zach Burke (Bowie, Md. / Bowie) started in goal for Waynesburg. He tallied 10 saves in just under 92 minutes of work.

The Jackets will be back in action on Wednesday, Oct 13, when they welcome conference rival Washington & Jefferson for a PAC contest. Start time is scheduled for 8 p.m.
