CRESSON, Pa. (Sept. 11) – The Waynesburg University men's soccer team found itself in a defensive struggle at Mount Aloysius on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets and Mounties battled through 90 minutes of scoreless regulation time, before a penalty kick in the opening seconds of overtime gave the home team a 1-0 victory.
Freshman goalkeeper
Michael Francus (Bethel Park, Pa. / Bethel Park) put up a wall in front of the Yellow Jacket (1-2) net by stopping all 10 shots on goal during regulation. Waynesburg countered with five shots on goal, including two each for freshman
Seth Massotti (Douglass, Mass. / Whitinsville Christian) and senior
Ryan McCann (Runcorn, England / Moon).
Saturday's contest was a chippy one that featured seven cards (six yellows, one red) being assessed, five of which went against Mount Aloysius (1-1-2).
Waynesburg returns to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 15, when it travels to Muskingum. Start time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
