WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Feb. 12) – The Waynesburg University wrestling team hosted the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships on Saturday. Junior heavyweight Rocky McGeary's (McDonald, Pa. / West Allegheny) second-straight title at 285 pounds highlighted the day for the Yellow Jackets, who placed third in the final team standings.

McGeary's run to the heavyweight crown started with a major decision victory over Thiel's Seth Phillips. He defeated a second-straight Tomcat by pinning Dylan Proper in the championship bout. Waynesburg has now won eight-straight PAC titles at 285 pounds.

Freshmen Damion Finnegan (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona) and Seth Evans (Sharon, Pa. / Sharon) added runner-up performances at 141 and 165 pounds, respectively. Junior Noah Grossnickle (Myersville, Md. / Middletown) and sophomore Kyler Hinerman also picked up wins on the day.

Thiel won the PAC team title and was followed by 2020 champion Washington & Jefferson in second place.

The Jackets are back on the mats when they compete in the NCAA Division III Southeast Regional Championships. The two-day event will be hosted by Lycoming and gets started on Friday, Feb. 25.
