Gallaudet is Waynesburg's first season-opening opponent not named Muskingum since 2011. The Yellow Jackets posted a 4-6 mark against the Muskies over a decade of lid-lifting showdowns.

Along with his impressive coaching resume that includes stops at Duquesne, Robert Morris and Pittsburgh, Dr. Cornelius Coleman proved he could perform on the field as well as on the sideline. During the 1999 season, his last as a Yellow Jacket player, he was named honorable mention All-American as a defensive lineman.

Senior quarterback Tyler Raines put together a two-week stretch in 2021 that was as good as any in the PAC this past fall. During weeks two and three, Raines completed 34-of-49 passes for 670 yards, seven touchdowns and no interceptions.

While the Waynesburg defense struggled at times last year, one thing it was very successful at was popping the ball loose from opposing offenses. The Yellow Jackets forced 14 total fumbles, an average of 1.4 per contest.

Current sophomore wide receiver Dakota Romantino put together a truly impressive freshman season. He tallied 46 catches for 821 yards and four touchdowns, despite only joining the team shortly before week one. Those numbers are made even more notable, considering the fact he played a large portion of the season with a large cast on his right wrist and hand.

Expect to see plenty of new faces on the field this fall, as the Jacket staff put together a 50-plus-man class of newcomers, several of which who are already appearing in the weekly two-deep.

Saturday's game is the first of back-to-back home contests for Gallaudet, which hosts Greensboro for another non-conference contest on Sept. 10.

Gallaudet's triple-option offense allowed the Bison to finish fourth in the nation at 322.4 yards rushing per game in 2021.

Waynesburg will face the triple-option twice in the first three weeks of the 2022 season. PAC rival Geneva also runs the system and will come to John F. Wiley Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 17.
