LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Sept. 24) – The Waynesburg University men's cross country team ended a two-week layoff by traveling to Saturday's Lock Haven Invitational. The Yellow Jackets placed 27
th in the massive 34-team field.
Waynesburg was paced by junior
Andrew Kasper (Orchard Park, N.Y. / Orchard Park), who placed 151
st out of 290 competitors with a time of 27:34.50. Senior
Jac Cokley (Cochranton, Pa. / Cochranton) was the next Yellow Jacket runner to cross the finish line, doing so with the 186
th-place mark of 28:16.40. Sophomore
Nolan Curran (Ellwood City, Pa. / Ellwood City) rounded out the Jackets' top three after posting the number-193 time of 28:22.00.
Sophomore
Luke Whisel (Monroeville, Pa. / Gateway) was the next Orange and Black runner to finish the 8K course, doing so in 28:25.80. Waynesburg's scoring five was completed by freshman
Christian Michaels (West Mifflin, Pa. / West Mifflin), who logged the 225
th-place time of 29:02.60.
NCAA Division I member Cornell (N.Y.) took home Saturday's team title.
Waynesburg is off until Saturday, Oct. 8, when it competes in its annual Homecoming 5K. Race time is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
